AUGUST 1988. PROYCON IS BORN
On August 28, 1988, with efforts and hopes and on the initiative of Ing. Eduardo Uribe Chaverri, the 100 percent Costa Rican capital company, Constructora Proycon S.A., was born, dedicated to the construction business and focused on the private sector.
We started in a small office of 50 m2 located in Sabana Sur, with three people, with a small computer and the support of Eng. Luis Roberto Sáenz, who in the very short term was associated with the company.
SEPTEMBER 1988. FIRST PROJECT
In September of that same year of 1988, our first project began, a luxury residence for a private client, with an area of 1,000 m2 and an approximate cost of $ 600,000.00.
This work, designed by architect Carlos Manuel Escalante, marks the beginning of Constructora Proycon’s long career with the luxury residences sector, among other projects that marked the first years of our history.
YEAR 1993. ALLIANCE WITH GRUPO GTU DEVELOPMENTS
For the year of 1993, it initiates one of the most important strategic alliances for our company, and that lasts until today, with our partner Grupo GTU Desarrollos.
With them we have built and invested in several development projects, such as District 4, mixed use project, and many other residential projects, which has strengthened the name and quality of our brand over the years.
YEAR 1998. YEAR OF GROWTH
In January of 1998 and thanks to the support and trust of the Génesis Real Estate Group, and the firm of Architects Daniel Lacayo Asociados, the company started one of the most important stages of our history, with the construction of the Forum I Business Park.
This complex of 17 office buildings with an approximate area of 130,000 m2, came to revolutionize the market of oficentros in our country and left, forever, an important footprint in our company. Today, Constructora Proycon has a history and leadership in the construction of the best office centers in Costa Rica, among others, Oficentro Cafetal 1, Oficentro El Tobogán, Oficentro Cafetal 2 and the Business Parks Forum 1 and Forum 2, for an approximate area of 450,000 m2, both for civil construction and office remodeling.
With the growth of the coming years we were strengthened with the incorporation of new partners, the engineers Luis Retana and Max A. Fischel K., fundamental pieces in our organization to be able to continue on the path we have outlined.
YEAR 1999. FIRST CRANE
An important part of carrying out successful projects has to do with investing in specialized equipment. For the year 1999, the first crane was acquired, a versatile and necessary tool that allowed us to continue penetrating during the following decades in large-scale works.
YEAR 2002. CREATION OF THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY DEPARTMENT
In 2002, the Department of Occupational Safety of Proycon was created, an area in which the company has stood out over the years, thanks to teamwork and a serious commitment to the established guidelines.
YEAR 2006. PREVENTICO NATIONAL AWARD
Constructora Proycon obtains its first National Award Preventico, granted by the National Institute of Insurance, for its management in occupational health. This award recognizes the actions carried out by companies in the field of prevention of occupational accidents and validates their occupational health programs.
This was the first of many recognitions that Proycon has received over the years for its continued efforts in this area. Our Department of Occupational Safety, has a priority importance within our policies and intervenes daily in all our works, and we even offer support to our competitors in the assembly of cranes.
Our effort was rewarded again in 2016 with the second National Award Preventico, awarded to our company for innovation and continuous improvement of our programs.
AUGUST 2008. FIRST GREAT PROJECT IN THE MEDICAL INDUSTRY
In August 2008, an alliance was made with Turner International to build our first major project in the medical industry sector, the medical devices plant of Boston Scientific in Costa Rica. The 32,000 m2 project was successfully completed in 2009 and obtained the LEED Silver certification.
To date, our company is a benchmark in medical industry projects, after having built plants for six international companies in this sector, located in the best free zones of our country. Our vast experience in LEED certification processes, as well as after sales service in our projects have contributed to position our company in this industry.
MAY 2010. CONSTRUCTION OF THE HIGHEST BUILDING IN THE COUNTRY: TORRES DE COLÓN
In May 2010, Proycon takes an important step by being part of the history in relation to the visual change and repopulation of San José, thanks to the award of the Torres Paseo Colón project, the tallest building in the country on that date, located in an area of high construction risk. A challenge that came to modify the lifestyle of the capital city.
YEAR 2012. GROWING WITH CLIENTS OF FIRST ORDER
For the year 2012, we continue to grow with customers and first-class developers. Corporate Center Cafetal 1 and Cafetal 2 and multiple other works, built for the Garnier & Garnier Developer Group, which have been projects of great relevance and pride for our group. These modern office complexes, unique in their style, in a high growth area, were a constructive challenge due to their deadlines, quality and commitments acquired with end users.
YEAR 2015. IMPORTANT PROJECTS
Part of the growth of the company over 30 years, has had to deal with the involvement in projects of industrial warehouses for logistics and diverse services, a sector of high growth. Since 2015, Projects have been developed in the Zona Franca Coyol, Zona Franca La Lima and very recently Latam Logistics in Alajuela, proof of our experience in this market.
TODAY. BUILDING HISTORY
We have built history together, “slowly and with good words”, with the human talent of our collaborators, and with the effort and ethical principles that make us different.
